Dear Mike:
On April 21, a large group of local runners will take part in the half-marathon (13.1 miles) in St. Cloud, Mn.
Each Saturday morning, they gather at Energy Fitness for the ever-increasing long run. Because runners need water on long runs, I have been placing at first one and recently a second plastic laundry basket (about $5) marked “Energy Fitness,” with water bottles each with the runner’s name on it.
As the distance stretches out (11 miles this past Saturday), a much-needed sports drink is placed in the second basket.
My point is this. Twice now, some low form of life has stolen the baskets and bottles that are screaming out: “You don’t belong to me!”
Whoever you are, would you please stop! Running 13 miles is hard enough without your stooping so low to rip off a cheap basket that clearly doesn’t belong to you.
