Play for fun

Dear editor:
I would like to thank the Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association for including our two PeeWee girls’ teams in the boys’ Atom ‘A’ tournament held over the weekend here.
When I first learned we had the opportunity to play, I thought it would be a great weekend playing the sport we all love.
For some, the feelings were different. Several comments were made by concerned parents and fans that felt we should be disqualified, that we were an ‘AA’ team, or the fact some thought we were a team with 14-year-olds.
We may have been a little older and bigger then the Atom boys, but we were invited to participate and when you’re offered extra ice time, you don’t turn it down.
I feel all the teams involved played some great, fun, and fair hockey.
We play hockey for the enjoyment. When we lose, we learn from our mistakes and try harder the next time. Please don’t take the enjoyment out of the sport.
