Here’s an idea that might help restore and renew the recently-clogged artery known as Highway #11.
The MTO will erect an “Adopt-a-highway” sign in recognition of anyone willing to commit to the care and cleaning of this section of highway.
The “Adopt-a-highway” program is a great way for a community or group of individuals to say “thanks” for the privilege of using a well-constructed and maintained roadway.
If the chief and council of Couchiching had their names on a couple of these signs, this would result in far better optics for their community than the imagery and toxicity the toll booth was creating.
Seeing these signs on Couchiching, backed by beneficial action, would aid conflict resolution and begin healing the rift between us neighbours.
