To the editor:
I’m a bit put out with Harry Vandetti’s writings of past history. Surely to God he can research the truth about the shooting at the farm near the Sturgeon Creek bridge, two-and-a-half miles east of Barwick.
Where in the world did he get the story of the prisoner running with a mattress on his back when he was mortally wounded?
I lived only one road north of the farm and heard the shots, and my father was at the scene when they took the man from the basement of the farmhouse.
Surely there is a record of the incident in one of the past Fort Frances Times.
Mr. Vandetti doesn’t have to make up his own story when he didn’t even live around then.
Signed,
Colleen Ball
