During Fan Appreciation Night on Sept. 12 at the Emo Speedway, the ambulance was called to leave on two different occasions during the racing program.
Due to the high cost of having a dedicated ambulance, the Borderland Racing Association has had to take the risk that an ambulance could be called away from the races in order to deal with an emergency in other areas.
While waiting for the ambulance to return the second time, it was discovered the ambulance could not make it back to the track because of another call.
At this time, we had no option but to cancel the races due to time restraints.
We regret not being able to complete the last night of racing as it was frustrating for the fans, the sponsors, and the drivers.
Due to the limitations of schedules, etc., we were unable to set up another race date in order to complete the Fan Appreciation Night of racing.
We are working hard towards having a rescue vehicle manned by paramedics set in place for the 2010 season so this situation will not arise again.
There will be an awards banquet held at the Emo Legion on Saturday night, with a dance to cap off the awards. We would like to send out an invitation to anyone who would like to come out and enjoy a night of music, dance, and fun from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.
The annual general meeting has been set for the end of November. There will be announcements in the newspaper with information on date, place, and time.
Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, although only members of the 2009 season (memberships purchased prior to Oct. 31) are eligible to vote or stand for election.
