No money?

Dear sir:
Mr. Hoshizaki (Rainy River District School Board) saw a $25,747 salary increase (19 percent) between 2002 and 2003 while Mr. Woods (Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc.) was given a $25,565 hike (also 19 percent).
Is there any wonder why we have no funds for books and supplies for our children, or why we have no funds for beds and equipment for our health care system?
The above are only two examples (no doubt there are thousands of similar public-sector pay increases across the province).
If Premier McGuinty would step in and roll back these ridiculous yearly increases, he would find a good portion of the $5.5 billion he needs to balance the budget.
Something to think about.
Signed,
Edward Ball

P.S. The above yearly increases are more than a good portion of Ontario residents’ annual income.
