Dear sir:
Recently, the Grade 8 and SK students from Walker/MacKenzie schools collaborated on a “letter writing” project. The older students began with writing a short friendly letter to a younger student and, in turn, the little ones prepared a letter and illustration of their own.
To celebrate the letter exchange and the new friendships formed, Mrs. Woods invited the Grade 8’s to her classroom so the SK’s could read their special letters to their big buddies, lead them through the amazing play and learning centres, co-operate on snowman-building teams, and enjoy a sweet treat they made themselves.
What a wonderful morning for all!
Many thanks to the SK’s for sharing their love of learning and playing with the older students—and for being such lovely hosts.
Thanks also go to the Grade 8’s, who displayed exemplary behaviour and kind-heartedness to their new friends. They allowed themselves to be magically transported back to the world of a young child for a brief moment in time—one which we will not soon forget.
(Signed),
Sharlene Gilbert
