My mistake

Dear editor:
I attended Emo’s public abattoir meeting Monday night and the residents and the farmers both had some very valid points—for and against the abattoir.
I think everybody there agreed an abattoir is needed in the area, but most of Emo’s residents, me included, figure it should be somewhere else.
The subject was brought up that maybe it should be put to a vote but “King Edward,” reigning reeve of Emo, shot that down immediately, saying the council has made its decision and he felt no need for a referendum.
Stephanie Hyatt brought up the concern of children using streets for walking to and from school, and the extra truck traffic, for there are no sidewalks on the access streets to the abattoir.
Reeve Carlson said that if it became an issue, they would deal with it.
Well, when does it become an issue, Ed?! When some child gets maimed or killed?!
In conclusion, I just want to say I am very disappointed in “King Edward” and his court. I didn’t realize I was living in a dictatorship. I thought the residents might have a say in what goes on in our community.
My mistake.
Sincerely,
Darren Westover
