Municipal concerns

Dear Mr. Editor:
Just a quick note regarding a few municipal concerns.
Not long ago a letter was written requesting information from Mayor Avis and members of Council, seeking a list of tax amounts and reductions, plus charity write-offs of municipal taxes, over the last three year period.
To this date we have not received that list, nor was it published in the paper. Seems the promised transparency in our last municipal election is severely flawed.
This public letter is a request to ask council to provide us with this information ASAP, or better yet publish this information in the Fort Frances Times, so everyone will know, where and how these tax accounts were handled, and their impact on those taxpayers who must pick up that lost tax revenue.
Also, we would like to make a comment on the road work on Central Ave, and the subway on Portage. What kind of contract was let, where the contractors working these projects, work a few days, and disappear for lengthy periods of time. This is ridiculous.
The subway walls are constantly shifting and we are beginning to wonder if the trestle over the subway is safe.
Maybe council should stop this project, take the bull by the horns and fill in this monstrous hole and build a bridge over the top of the subway.
While we are at it, with the closing of the subway and the huge volume of trains that cut off McIrvine crossing, should be excuse enough for council to go after the C.N. and develop further vehicle crossings, including pedestrian access to and from the north end.
CN should shoulder this financial burden and should not be let off the hook, on this very serious and critical matter.
This work on the subway, truly exemplifies the isolation of town transportation to all residents, especially those that live in the north end.
Hopefully Mr. Editor you will assign a reporter to these significant issues and educate the public on municipal issues that affect all Fort Frances residents.
Yours truly,
Bill Krukoski
