Much thanks

To the editor,
I am writing to express my thanks to all of the volunteers who helped make this year’s Fort Frances Aquanauts Swim Team (FFAST) swim camp such a huge success.
In only its second year, the two-week training camp already is building a reputation—attracting nearly 40 swimmers from Kenora, Thunder Bay, International Falls, Atikokan, and as far away as Thompson, Man., as well as many local athletes.
Several of this year’s swimmers came to Fort Frances for their second season while a number already have committed to next year’s camp.
Returning swimmers credited the camp for some of the great successes that they enjoyed in the pool last swim season, both regionally and provincially.
A special thanks to our dryland coaches—Dave Allison (head coach of the Borderland Thunder), Megan Ross (physical education director for the Town of Fort Frances), and Mirel Bica (head coach of the Fort Frances Gymnastics Academy).
I also would like to thank Blair and Donna Lowey for helping to organize the many social activities the swimmers enjoyed over the two-week camp.
It is only through the efforts and expertise of our volunteers, and the hard work of FFAST head coach Roman Ramirez, that we are able to run such a successful camp and provide this much-needed opportunity to swimmers in Northwestern Ontario.
