Much appreciated

Dear editor:
I’m writing today to publicly thank Cindy Judson of Emo for crafting five beautiful quilts that currently are on display in the library at Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in Toronto.
Cindy’s son, Douglas, a classmate of mine, enlisted her help to turn a box of old, unused Orientation Week T-shirts into five special mementos.
These quilts will be raffled off, with proceeds going to a bursary for law students who intend to pursue a career in social justice.
Douglas also has arranged for funds raised by this initiative to be matched by the school’s administration.
[On Monday] we unveiled the quilts and students, staff, and faculty alike are thrilled with the whole initiative. Everyone who purchased tickets asked us where these unique, one-of-a-kind items came from.
Everyone is totally blown away by Cindy’s talent and generosity.
As someone who has attended elementary school, high school, and now law school with Cindy’s son, Douglas, I have to admit I was not surprised at her efforts. Cindy has been an outstanding community member for many years, contributing to many volunteer projects.
Attending elementary school and high school with Douglas, Cindy was a constant presence helping out with many school events. However, I never would have imagined I would continue to be a beneficiary of her efforts years later in a city hundreds of kilometres away from home.
On behalf of my classmates, I want to thank Cindy. Her efforts are much appreciated!
Sincerely,
Allison Williams
