Further to last week’s hasty condemnation of Canada’s response to the Pakistan earthquake, I offer the following summary.
The Canadian government is providing $20 million in addition to the initial $300,000. Further, the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) will be developed.
Our response as a nation must be both responsible and prompt. It is estimated the number of world catastrophes is expected to rise to 5,000 every 10 years due to an increasing world population and construction over more land.
As such, we must ensure our money goes to the right place for the most effective value.
Thank you for the opportunity to clarify the caring and compassion approach as a nation.
