Money always talks

Dear Mr. Editor:
There is a lot of talk these days about “global warming” or the updated term “climate change.”
The “global warming” myth started around 40 years ago as a “Cold War” propaganda. The Soviets claimed the rocket exhaust from the big Saturn V rocket would “punch a hole in the ozone layer” as it went to the moon.
The term “hole in the ozone layer” had a very simple physical meaning at that time. It was a literal hole as the rocket went through the ozone layer.
Way before the launch of the Saturn V rocket, another rocket was fired up that dumped barium dust to simulate a large exhaust cloud. The “hole in the ozone” lasted only a few minutes and then disappeared.
Thus, this “Cold War” propaganda died on the spot, but corporate interests resurrected it and it is with us today—with plenty of computer simulations and pseudo-science books to prove it.
“There are few joys to compare with the telling of a well-told tale.” (Charles de Lint).
If a claim of event can’t be reproduced in the laboratory, it is deemed unscientific. Can anyone reproduce this “permanent hole in the ozone layer” claim of event in a laboratory?
We are right now in a minor “global cooling” (natural cycle) state—not “global warming.”
Ice Ages are caused by a global warming of the oceans. The heat from the sun warms the ocean surface and lifts billions of tons of ocean water—as clouds—high into the atmosphere and then into the Earth’s cold polar regions, where the ocean mists and clouds fall as new snow and ice.
It takes lots of warm water and sunshine to evaporate massive clouds of water from the oceans. The current disappearance of the glaciers is evidence of “global drought” or ocean cooling. There is less water coming off the oceans and consequently less new snow being deposited.
The disappearance of the glaciers and the low water levels of inland lakes are proofs that the oceans are cooling (less water evaporation)—not warming.
Big corporations want to scare us and profit from this “global warming/climate change” myth—at our expense, of course.
Does Jack Layton, leader of the NDP, know this pseudo-science fact of “global warming/climate change”? The NDP become the political mouthpiece for corporations in this matter of “global warming/climate change” myth.
Do they know it?
The Prime Minister of Canada, on the other hand, is on the right track about the Kyoto scheme of big corporations, but traditionally “money always talks.”
We shall see.
Thank you,
Andrew Szell
