Another miss for “SLEEPY HOLLOW” – Nothing for Fort Frances again!
The January 31st Fort Frances Times headline announced government financial funding, targeting Forest Biomass Projects in northwestern Ontario. A 19.6 million Biomass Action Plan started in 2020. The recipients of this fund are in Thunder Bay, Atikokan, Armstrong, Sioux Lookout and Nipigon. A new biomass facility has been announced for Thunder Bay.
Fort Frances had a relatively unused biomass facility. Members of our council were appraised of the future biomass possibilities in January of 2021. Our council members chose to disregard the possible opportunities, the possibility of new investment, new industry, jobs to keep our youth here ans spin off small business, all of which are desperately needed. Town council stood by and without any protest, watched as the biomass structure was demolished in September of 2022. The demolition of the biomass structure guaranteed no future participation in our area Forest Sector Strategy, nor the green revolution and decarbonizing efforts.
Our elected Fort Frances town council does not strive to grow the future of our town. Council should be ashamed of their lack of effort a resign. Boundless is a misnomer. Useless is more appropriate.
