Dear Editor,
This is in response to Mr. Bedard’s request, and I quote “. . . that Town Council develop a new By-law that calls for a mandatory public meeting, that is well advertised, allowing a public meeting to take place before any land or property is changed from its present purpose, occupancy, sold or rented out.”
So, should the town hold a public meeting to decide on a by-law for mandatory public meetings? This reminds me of the many public and private meetings held by a select few individuals, regarding the Senior Centre. To my knowledge, taxpayers always have the opportunity for input at Council meetings held once a month, by forming a delegation and making a presentation. It is my understanding when I vote for Mayor and Council, that they will be making the best decisions for our community. The Council should NOT find it necessary to call a public meeting for a decision we elected them to make.
I prefer the elected seven officials to make decisions for me as opposed to the few people who tend to undermine the integrity of Mayor and Council. Shame on you!
