On behalf of the Kidney Foundation, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who made our March door-to-door canvass a huge success.
Through the tireless efforts of our captains, canvassers, and contributors, we have raised $8,635 in our area, which covered Fort Frances, Couchiching, Alberton, Nicickousemenecaning First Nation, and Mine Centre this year.
We are very appreciative of your support, especially when you are receiving so many requests for very worthwhile causes at this time. This is truly “a giving area” and we want to assure you your contribution will be used wisely.
Kidney disease is on the rise and the Kidney Foundation will continue to meet its commitment to medical research, patient services, organ donor awareness, and public education.
Drop by and see us at the Women’s Health Symposium coming up on May 12 to pick up pamphlets or ask questions about organ donation and kidney disease.
Some quick statistics:
•# of dialysis patients in Ontario—10,000;
•# of Ontarians living with kidney transplants—5,000; and
•waiting list to date in 2007 for kidneys—1,146
Again, on behalf of the Kidney Foundation and all the Canadians with kidney disease, thank you for your continued support in this and the other events we sponsor.
Mary Jane Pearson
