Dear editor:
Thank you for printing my letter concerning the relocation of the Hallett to the riverfront.
I have lived on the riverfront for 51 years and it is still zoned as residential according to my taxes. Can the town legally place whatever it wants in front of our homes?
Will our taxes go up. How much?
Has town council considered the bottleneck of trucks, cars, and general traffic in this area?
One hundred trucks a day now using this route presents a safety hazard at the best of times. Having tourists stop (where?) only will add to the problem.
How will moving the Hallett and an ugly tower overlooking a wood yard increase tourism? How does a four-month operation per year add to the coffers?
If the town reaches an agreement to keep Pither’s Point and Seven Oaks, why would you move anything?
If readers agree, please contact your mayor and councillors.
Sincerely,
Gladys Martin
