Dear editor:
In recognition of National Volunteer Week (April 27—May 3), I would like to express our gratitude to the many volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to the work of the Canadian Cancer Society.
Thanks to our many dedicated volunteers, the Canadian Cancer Society leads the way in the fight against cancer. Our canvassers knock on doors in their neighbourhoods during the Canadian Cancer Society’s Daffodil Month in April.
Our volunteer drivers take patients to and from cancer treatments. Our volunteers offer compassion and support at the Northwestern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre, Amethyst House Lodge, and at many community hospitals throughout Northwestern Ontario.
Our volunteers provide emotional support to people battling cancer, offering personal experience and understanding. Our volunteers plan, organize, and participated in fundraising events such as Daffodil Days, Relay For Life, and Curl for Cancer.
Our volunteers provide information about reducing one’s risk of cancer and emotional support to help people cope with cancer. Our volunteers are committed to our goal of eradicating cancer and improving the quality of care of people living with cancer.
Our volunteers are your neighbours, your co-workers, and your friends.
Canadian Cancer Society volunteers are located in almost every community in Northwestern Ontario, providing support and information close to home. In Fort Frances, we are proud to acknowledge our many volunteers who work in all areas, including information, fundraising, patient support, and community services.
Our volunteers make a difference locally.
I am fortunate to work with such committed people who dedicate their time and efforts to the Canadian Cancer Society and their community. They are truly special people, giving of themselves to help others.
To all our volunteers, thank you for helping us make cancer history. we couldn’t do it without you.
Signed,
Ken Ranta
