Let’s do this

Dear Mike:
I am writing on behalf of myself to address the “Hockeyville” 2014 bid for Fort Frances.
I, as well as 19 others, have taken the opportunity to go to the website and write a memory or story in hopes to get Fort Frances into the top eight of the West division.
This I am very thankful for! I also have to give thanks to Jason Kabel, Boston Pizza, The Fort Frances Times, and 93.1 The Border for their generous support and “having my back” throughout this nomination round.
I have one discouraging thought. This is a town of 8,000 people—shouldn’t there be a higher number than 20 on the website?
I have asked town council for its support via e-mail and got nothing in return. Couldn’t that $25,000-$100,000 in arena upgrades help with a budget crunch?
I have asked both our MPP and MP for their support, and once again got nothing.
I have no problem in putting my efforts for this town. I was born here, I grew up here, and more than likely someday I’ll be buried here.
I do not have any ties to the arena. I don’t have kids who use the arena. But I still will step in to help our beloved Memorial Sports Centre.
Wouldn’t it be nice to win “Hockeyville” 2014? What a re-brand that would be. And I can’t wait to see the NHL pre-season game played here.
So in closing, please visit krafthockeyville.cbc.ca and post your favorite memory, story, or photo of past, present, or future.
Let’s see if we can pull off another victory like we did this past summer!
Thank you for your time.
(Signed),
