Dear editor:
It was with great interest that I read Mr. Leschinski’s letter to the editor on Nov. 1 entitled “Honesty, integrity”?
Is Mr. Leschinski a member of council? He alludes to, infers, and suggests that Mr. Avis is responsible solely for the town experiencing its worst years financially, that the town’s roads are in a deplorable state because Mr. Avis was a member of the Operations and Facilities executive committee, and because he’s the owner of a Daimler Chrysler Canada dealership, he was born with a silver spoon.
John, do you really believe that Daimler Chrysler Canada (or the multi-national company you made reference to) would allow Mr. Avis to continue to sell their products if he wasn’t a competent, honest individual whose integrity has gained his business a five-star rating?
Is this not the type of individual our town needs to see us through these trying economic times?
This is a person with a real job! He is an employer, a decision-maker, and someone who devotes what extra time he may have selflessly to our town’s betterment.
Having said that, perhaps it is you, Mr. Leschinski, who should run for mayor since you attend the Northern Ontario Municipal Association meetings, the snowshoe race with our sister city, International Falls, and the “Meet Me at the Border” event put on by our two communities.
Signed,
A.P. Holt
