Dear editor:
The issue of conformity or non-conformity, in relation to the Midget ‘AA’ Canadians’ team colours, rages on.
As a grandparent of a Canadians’ rookie this past season, I was exposed to a Fort Frances version of Hockey Canada’s program of excellence.
However, the term excellent does not do justice to Dave Egan’s program. Coach Dave’s program is simply at a different and higher level rarely achieved by his contemporaries.
As such, the students should not be dictating to the professor in any aspect of the curriculum.
The Midget Canadians have a specific identity and colour, which is not black and gold.
Many of the proponents of the one-colour-for-all theory are affiliated with the local junior Lakers team. Yet the Lakers recently were outfitted with new uniforms. What colour are the Laker uniforms?
An example of “Don’t do as I do, do as I say.” Just a tinge of hypocrisy there, I think.
My grandson has a number of options open to him this fall. Yet he has elected to rejoin the Midget Canadians without ever trying out for the Muskies.
He wants to be a Canadian, not a Muskie clone.
Leave the colours alone.
Signed,
Brenda McPherson,
Couchiching F.N.
