Kudos to volunteers

Dear editor:
April 18-24 is National Volunteer Week. It is a time to recognize and honour those who contribute so much to their communities.
Volunteers do so to make their home towns better places to live in, more vibrant and caring. I also believe volunteers feel they personally benefit from volunteering as much as—or more than—those they are working with.
I would like to take a moment to thank those who play a vital supporting role and usually go unrecognized. They are the partners who eat meals and spend weekends alone, who do more than their share of chauffeuring kids to activities, who listen when things get bumpy, and are first in the cheering section saying “Go for it!” when a new volunteer experience arises.
We couldn’t do it without you!
To the guy holding “The Publisher’s Pen,” a very special thank you for your unending support (did I mention Toronto in June, Huntsville in October, and back to Thunder Bay?!)
And to the Fort Frances Times. I can’t even imagine how many pages have gone through your photocopier for the Girl Guides. Thank you.
So, kudos to the volunteers, and a very big “thank you” to all those who make it possible.
Most sincerely,
Marnie Cumming
