In solidarity

Dear editor:
At the most recent meeting of the Kenora and District Labour Council (KDLC), the delegates discussed the current issues surrounding the sale of the Resolute mill in Fort Frances.
The KDLC stand in support of the town council and the citizens of Fort Frances and surrounding area in seeking the provincial government’s intervention and assistance.
We urge the member of Provincial Parliament for Kenora-Rainy River, Greg Rickford, to use all means at his disposal to assist the town in securing the sale of the mill and ensuring the adequate supply of materials (wood rights) are provided.
Further, we hope the wood rights are tied to the mill operations and not to the corporations that own them.
We recognize that in a lot of Northern Ontario town that mills can be the heart of our communities, and that our towns need good jobs with good wages.
We stand in solidarity.
Sincerely,
Glen Archer
