Improving access to justice is one way we are making government a force for good in more people’s lives.
As Attorney General of Ontario, it is important to me that the residents of Fort Frances, and the District of Rainy River, are able to access the legal services they need.
I know the needs of northerners are unique. You face challenges that are not experienced in other parts of the province.
I am pleased to announce that my ministry has begun the recruitment process for a Crown Attorney to serve the District of Rainy River. The job ad was posted earlier this week.
We hope to fill this contract position as soon as possible in order to help improve access to justice in your area.
I am grateful to the Crown counsel from neighbouring districts who have worked hard over the past several months to serve the area.
Over the next year, my ministry will be reviewing the long-term needs of Fort Frances and the District of Rainy River to decide on the right approach for prosecution services going forward.
