Huge thumbs up

Dear editor:
A huge thumbs up from the people of Namibia, Africa—through “Bicycles for Humanity Thunder Bay”—to all of the people involved in both the gathering and the donating of all the bikes delivered to Thunder Bay last week.
Through the generosity of the people of Fort Frances and the surrounding areas, dozens of people in rural Africa will have their lives changed for the better through the simple gift of transportation.
Jim and Maxine Scheibler, along with their boys, Aaron and Sekina, collect the bikes from the Rainy River District residents while Pat Ash and Val Calder do the co-ordinating of the bike drive for Fort Frances.
This year, Pat “donated” her yard as a drop-off “station” for the bikes (roughly 200)!
Besides the Scheiblers, the volunteers who showed up to load the bikes were from the Church of the Holy Spirit in Fort Frances as the congregation has taken this on as part of their mission work.
Bikes were collected from as far as Nestor Falls, including all the smaller communities like Emo, Devlin, Barwick, Pinewood, etc. that fall between Fort Frances and Rainy River.
A special thanks to Frank Scheibler, who delivered the giant load in his truck last week.. It was very impressive to see him rolling in down Simpson Street!
