Hopping mad

Dear editor:
On Tuesday, Jan. 15, there was an accident on Highway 11 at the La Vallee bridge between an SUV and the beer truck.
I drive school bus and was stopped waiting for the truck to go past in order to make a left-hand turn into La Vallee. As it passed, I looked in my mirror to see that it was okay to make my turn when I saw the SUV lose control and start spinning around.
The poor guys in the truck had nowhere to go and hit the SUV. Nobody knows how serious that accident could have been except me, the gentlemen in the beer truck, and the drivers of three other school buses that were there.
It’s only by the grace of God that none of the three buses behind me were not involved in the accident. To the ladies driving the buses from Dimit Bus Lines, a great job you did getting the buses stopped on the icy roads.
To the guys in the truck, I can’t even imagine what was going through your heads when you saw all the buses.
To the driver of the SUV, you can thank your lucky stars that you can talk about the incident today. It wasn’t your time.
To Transfield Highway Co., maybe you should take a serious look at your road maintenance. What you are doing now isn’t working.
To the provincial government—open your eyes. Tendering is not the best way to go. Bring back the old system.
And to Transfield, I will borrow a comment from a family friend who said to your guy at the accident scene: “The rain must be different on the American side because they can get their roads cleaned of the ice within a couple of days.”
Get your act together before a busload of kids is killed.
