Dear editor:
If you don’t think your donation of blood makes a difference, please read this.
I recently have undergone treatment for cancer and felt that because I have been a blood donor for several years, it was my duty to inform the blood donor clinic of this in case they needed to pull any of my blood as a precaution.
The nurse thanked me for informing her and ended our conversation by thanking me for my years of giving, adding, “I want you to know that you helped to save the lives of 45 people.”
I was so elated, I cried on the phone and said, “So my life has had meaning.”
Just had to share this. When you are called upon to give blood, please remember my story.
Thank you,
