Help needed

Dear Mike:
I would like to thank you personally and the Times for its support of the Rainy River District Festival of the Performing Arts.
Your readers do not know the arrangement that you and I have made regarding publication of festival results. The festival was to drop off daily results at the Times office and you had agreed to publish them as they occurred.
People really do not seem to realize the degree that festival has grown in the last couple of years and that fewer committee members must look after a greatly increased workload. I apologize to the Times, and parents and participants, but the committee simply did not have the people to provide you with the results while we desperately wanted to do so!
One committee member was run off their feet so that they were physically ill and ended up in bed for several days after the conclusion of the festival. This should not happen! We need more people to serve year-round on the festival committee!
The addition of the dance section to the festival has posed many challenges for the committee. It takes considerably more people to effectively run this portion of the festival than any other division or that we anticipated.
Dance in this size is new to festival and growing pains are occurring. Joe Public, there is no better place than filling out forms next to the adjudicator or as chairperson if you want to view the event. You can help the event run and, at the same time, have one of the best seats in the house to see your children dance!
Each year, there are committee members who decide to leave and this year is no different. These losses make this appeal that much more necessary. Festival needs concerned, articulate, and impartial community volunteers to serve year-round and keep this event functioning.
Please feel free to contact me or come to meetings.
The Rainy River District Music Festival Association holds annual elections. Nominations presently are open for all executive positions: president, secretary, and treasurer.
The last day for nominations of these positions will be June 11, 2001.
Submit nominations to Charlene Gustafson at 483-5839 (H) or 482-2271 (W), or at the monthly meeting held downstairs in the Fort Frances Public Library starting at 6:30 p.m. (also on June 11).
Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
John Jankiewicz
Festival president
(2000-2001)
