Dear editor:
We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all the people of Barwick and Chapple who showed such fine community spirit in providing all of us with an unforgettable centennial celebration.
It was exciting to be welcomed by the attractive signs, introducing the “new” Barwick with its neatly-paved streets, modern facilities, waving flags, spruced-up homes, sparkling flowers, and manicured parks–indicators of foresight, careful planning, and hard work on the part of the reeve and council.
At the celebration, we especially appreciated the affordable, caring, alcohol-free family atmosphere, the moving and appropriate church and cenotaph services, and the beautiful grooming of the cemetery.
We enjoyed the unique parade, the tasty meals, and the opportunity to see the excellent new-museum, the church, and the Both farm. And we were pleased with the generosity of those who opened their homes to us.
There were so many planned and spontaneous extra delights, climaxing with the stunning fireworks display which rivalled the Minnesota State Fair.
The uplifting setting and all of the events combined to make the past weekend a highlight of our lives.
Many people, including the late June Clink, had a vision years ago of what this celebration could be like. Thank you, Rilla and your committee, for transforming dreams into reality. Bravo Barwick! Bravo Chapple!
Sincerely,
Rena Black (Fort Frances),
