On behalf of the Kidney Foundation of Canada, we would like to express our sincere thanks to those people who canvassed for the annual March Drive. This year, nearly $7,000 was raised locally.
The commitment of our volunteers is astonishing.
The Kidney Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of people with kidney disease through special needs services, research, and education, as well as by raising awareness of the need for organ donation.
In Ontario, 10,000 people are being treated for kidney disease; and 300 of those people are on a waiting list for a kidney transplant. Some will wait for up to 10 years. Five people per week will die waiting.
Clearly, the need is evident and we truly owe the canvassers and all those who donated to the campaign our heartfelt thanks.
