Dear sir:
My family and I were in Fort Frances this past weekend to participate in the fifth-annual Fort Frances Girls’/Women’s Hockey Association house
league hockey tournament.
To say the least, it was a lot of fun, and I would like to congratulate all the volunteers and sponsors who dedicated countless hours of work and money to ensure the event was a success. Far too many times, volunteers hear loud complaints but only whispers of support. I would like to offer my support to all the people who helped out.
It’s clear that organizer Tim Fowler surrounded himself with competent people who obviously have sportsmanship and camaraderie at the top of their list.
It is my understanding that Mr. Fowler is stepping down from girls’ hockey in Fort Frances. I am sure he will be missed, and can only hope your league is lucky enough to have someone like Tim step in and take over the duties.
Over the years, Tim has shown a love for the game which reflects in the calibre of tournament the association puts on year after year.
I personally have played hockey many times in your community and have coached a number of teams that have played in your town, including the Beaver Brae Broncos girls’ high school hockey team and the Kenora Bantam White Muskies house league team.
I have never been disappointed with the friendship offered by the people of Fort Frances.
Once again, congratulations to all who helped organize the girls’ hockey tournament, it was a pleasure and we will be back. As for Tim, I am sure we will continue to see him at the rink—but this time as a spectator.
(Signed),
David Craven
