Great job

Dear editor:
Just wanted to say a big “thank you” to the management and crew at our Public Works department for doing such a wonderful job keeping our streets clear of snow and removing the “huge” snowbanks this winter.
We seem to be back to a typical Northwestern Ontario winter, albeit the rain we received last month, adding to their and our headaches.
It can be a daunting task what with the frequency and amount of snow we have gotten. I think that perhaps we were just a little bit spoiled the past few winters with little precipitation and early springs!
As people who are out early every morning (between 2 and 4 a.m.) and putting in 14-hour days after a snowfall, we have an understanding of the work involved keeping up with the amount of precipitation we have had so far this winter—and we don’t have nearly the areas to cover as our town crew does.
We can appreciate that everyone would like their street cleared up first and are a little overwhelmed by the giant snow ridges left at the end of their driveways after the plows go by. But hey, it’s snow season in Northwestern Ontario and we are northerners!
Although some fellow citizens have expressed their concerns regarding the “snow issue” here in town, we do hope they are taking into consideration the vast area that must be cleared and that the town crews are out doing their level best to keep up with it.
They are out there early keeping the main corridors open so we can get to work and appointments (and Timmy’s) on time! We should all just try practising a little patience.
We believe they have been taking down the snowbanks as quickly and as best as can be expected, all things considered.
Again, a big, heart-felt thank you all for your hard work and dedication.
