Great edition

Dear editor:
I just finished reading the front page of the wartime special edition printed with last week’s Times with tears in my eyes and a big lump in my throat.
In reading the articles, I remembered something from long ago.
We had some people from Ukraine come to the Ukrainian Hall here for a concert. They sang, danced, and did some skits for us.
My husband, John, and I had four of the people billeted to stay at our house overnight, so we took them around Fort Frances the next day. It was a beautiful day.
We took them to the Point by the Ranier bridge and said, “That is the United States of America over there.”
They looked one way and then the other, and said, “There’s no guns or guards patrolling the area. What a beautiful sight. [We] can’t believe it—no one at the border.”
That was their highlight being in Fort Frances and I thought you would like to know it.
So reading on, I check-marked each story as I read them (so I knew what I had read) with more tears in my eyes. Some names were very familiar to me.
You certainly would not want war after reading them.
