Good job!

Phase II of the Alberton road surfacing project has now been successfully completed with Bone, Stewart, Pihulak, and a second mile of Ducharme Road being surfaced.
This will result in a significant savings to the taxpayers of Alberton over the years as it eliminates the need for summer grading, gravelling, and dust suppression on these higher maintenance roads.
None of this would have been possible without the $100,000 grant we received for this year’s project from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp., which supports infrastructure improvements in Northern Ontario communities.
Alberton council is very grateful to the NOHFC for helping to so significantly improve the quality of life for Alberton residents.
On behalf of council, I would like to thank our clerk/CAO, Ms. Dawn Hayes, for all her hard work in making this happen. Dawn was instrumental in getting the funding for Phase II of this project.
Our road superintendent/road contractor, Larry George, was up to the task of getting the roads into shape in quick order for the surfacing. This included organizing various contractors to replace culverts, gravel roads, dig frost boils and ditches, and pack and water the roads—not to mention the excellent grading work.
I would like to thank all the people and contractors who played an integral part in making this project possible, including Ms. Jane Gillon of the local Ministry of Northern Development and Mines office, Alberton Township staff, Wayne George Grading Ltd., George Armstrong Co. Ltd., Dennis Robinson Ltd., Tom Veert Contracting, Wes Jacobs, and, of course, Bill Hicks and the crew from MSO Construction Ltd.
