Giving up?

Dear editor:
As the parliamentary assistant to the minister of Northern Development and Mines, I visited Fort Frances several times in the late ’90s.
On one visit, I accepted an invitation to go to dinner in International Falls. The headline the next day was “The voice for the north goes south.”
Imagine my shock, knowing the Canadian paper industry is in crisis, that the mayor of your town also has gone south for his campaign brochure.
Are things now so desperate that “The voice for Fort Frances,” Mayor Onichuk, has given up on his local community?
Sincerely,
Bill Murdoch, MPP
