Dear editor:
As a former Fort Frances resident, I am always most proud to call Fort Frances home.
At present, many folks are voting for Ryan Faragher, nominee for the Hobey Baker Award, and the Border Skating Club’s initiative on the Tbaytel site.
I am one person who is doing both of these faithfully every day. They are awesome causes and most worthy of our time and attention.
However, I do not understand why more people have not registered for “Hockeyville.” By coming in the top eight [in the West], the least the town can win is $25,000.
How many of you have children in minor hockey; both boys and girls? How many kids have gone through the Muskie program? How many people belong to the figure skating club.
I am shocked that the Memorial Sports Centre, which is the hub of the community for so many, is getting so little attention.
I would suggest that each and every person who has a child in these programs get on the “Hockeyville” site, sign up, and vote. Unlike Ryan and the skating club, this is a one-time vote.
So if you want improvements to the arena that the town cannot afford, get on the computer and get voting for “Hockeyville.”
I sincerely hope with amazing community support that Ryan wins the Hobey Baker, the skating club wins $5,000 and people get behind “Hockeyville” and win money for the arena.
Sincerely,
Sue Clark
