Dear editor:
It is not daily headline news but there is something happening within the Liberal Party of Canada. The party is getting ready to choose its new leader.
Local delegates were announced late last month and will be travelling to a national gathering in Montreal on Nov. 29-Dec. 3.
The delegates already have stated which candidates they support on the first ballot, but they’ll get a chance during subsequent balloting to choose the candidate that has influenced them the most.
The candidates come from varying backgrounds and all have different strengths. They include Michael Ignatieff, Bob Rae, Joe Volpe, Gerard Kennedy, Stéphane Dion, Martha Hall Findlay, Scott Brison, and Ken Dryden.
Find out more about the candidates and their platforms at www.liberal.ca
You can get involved and let our local delegates know how you feel about the candidates. Who do think would benefit the north as leader? Who has the wit and political prowess to oppose the Conservative minority government?
Get involved in national politics; it is your country that will benefit. Tell us at thunderbayliberals@hotmail.com
