Fantastic

Dear editor:
On a cool, rainy Sunday afternoon, our hearts were warmed by a beautiful concert.
Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls was the venue and we were treated to the sounds of music presented by organ, piano, and voice.
The duo of Joanne Peterson on organ and Joe Belanger on piano stirred the heart and soul, and set the tone for the afternoon.
The six voices of the Fort Frances Youth Ensemble blended beautifully and sounded so sweet to the ear. Their six pieces, under the direction of Connie Schwartz, were an illustration of the range of talent present here in the Borderland.
Joanne, a world-renowned organist whose next concert will be in Washington, D.C. next month, gifted us with a 15-minute solo of J.S. Bach’s “Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor.”
The audience even took part—singing our hearts out hoping to approximate the energy, if not the skills, of Joanne, Joe, and the youthful singers.
The concert wrapped up with Joanne and Joe giving us a virtuoso performance on organ and piano.
This was truly a fantastic way to spend an afternoon in the presence of accomplished musicians as they performed magnificently.
