Editor:
For many years, I had the privilege of knowing Gus Lindberg as a friend and, in matters of minor hockey, a mentor.
Long after I left Fort Frances, he would still keep in touch, coming to Alberta where we watched hockey here or in Calgary. He never forgot his friends and was always one of my most valued.
Gus was synonymous with Fort Frances and his loss is an enormous one for not only the community, but the entire district. If anyone deserves to ever be immortalized in Fort Frances, it would be Gus, and I hope someday to see a hockey arena or a ball diamond, or a civic building, named in honour of this extraordinary human being.
He truly deserves it.
