Dear editor:
Arthritis is a chronic disabling condition which affects one in five Northern Ontario residents.
It is the major cause of long-term disability in working age adults, as well as the most chronic disease in children, affecting one in 1,000 Canadian children under the age of 16.
Our door-to-door residential and business campaign is the single-largest source of funding for research, treatment, and support for people affected with this crippling disease.
Last year, we helped more than 9,000 people with our services.
We desperately need your support to assist us in our campaign by offering a few hours of your time to canvass in your neighbourhood. This is also an opportunity for high school students to obtain their community service hours.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Our goal for this year for the Fort Frances/Rainy River District area is $11,000.
If you are able to lend a hand to canvass door-to-door, call 274-2731 or 274-7424. Help us help them escape the pain.
Sincerely,
Elma Tucker
