Dear sir:
We, as parents, should protest the provincial government’s bid to control class size and reduce teachers’ preparation time.
In their effort to cut costs, class sizes will increase and thereby the student-teacher ratio. Less time will be available for help and individual attention in class.
The proposed reduction in teachers’ preparation time will mean that besides losing time to prepare interesting lessons, they will have less time to be available to help students outside of class.
I have seen the benefits of “one on one” instruction that these caring professionals want to be able to offer to students who are interested. They feel accountable for their students’ progress and I appreciate their effort.
Thank you,
Kathy Cuthbertson
