Edwin Roger “Ed” Bruchkowski, 58, of R.R. # 2, Emo, Ont., passed away at his residence Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998. He was born Oct. 13, 1940 in Stratton, Ont. to Steve and Marguerite Bruchkowski.
Mr. Bruchkowski attended high school in Fort Frances and also had attended Musker Engineering School for Mechanics in Winnipeg, Man. He had worked for Fred Klug and Border Sales and Service in Emo, where he apprenticed. He also had worked as a mechanic and operator for the M.T.O. in Kenora from 1965 until Sept. 30, 1993, when he retired after 32 years of service.
He then moved to Emo, where he had lived since.
He was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed gardening, animals, the outdoors, working on motors, and any other job he could get his hands on. He also was a member of Knox United Church in Emo.
Ed was united in marriage Dec. 1, 1964 to the former Florence Caron, who survives along with their five children, Ron Marquart, Cindy and husband, Ernie Sinclair, Penny and husband, Phil Dewitt, and Tammy Bruchkowski and Allan Sinclair, all of Kenora, Ont., and Thomas Bruchkowski of Emo, Ont.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Brian, Samantha, Robert, Shane, Amanda, Robyn, and Steven; his mother, Marguerite Bruchkowski; a very dear friend, Beverly Hasiuk; and many nieces and nephews.
He also will be remembered by Bertha Caron, Bob and Dorothy Caron and family, Diane and Jim Danka, Joan and Ron Kunstman, and many friends and relatives.
He was predeceased by his father, Steve Bruchkowski in 1982; his brother, David in 1985; and his sister, Rita in 1992.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998 at 1 p.m. at Knox United Church in Emo, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Cremation has taken place in Thunder Bay, with interment to follow at a later date.
Honourary pallbearers will be Carl Heisler, Rudy Meyers, Jean Carlson, and his grandsons, Robert Dewitt, Shane Dewitt, and Brian Sinclair.
