Done good?

Dear Mike:
Watching the evening news recently, I seen a discussion on Canada’s education system, on how the standards for math, among other subjects, has declined.
I was curious as to how English grammar faired but it wasn’t even mentioned.
Moments later the newscaster actually said: “We did good!”
Me and my husband wonder how many teachers of yore are rolling over in their graves. Maybe they seen it happening themselves and gave up trying to correct students.
None of them are here to confirm how bad we speak today.
In fact, I heard teachers theirselves confuse singular with plural, adjectives with adverbs, subjective with objective. Some have went with the “colloquial” expressions by reasoning “it’s acceptable now!”
By who?
Oh well, it’s winter now. Our brains can freeze or unthaw while we try to correct the grandchildren before their grammatical errors become habit.
We got to act quick, kids, so yous won’t feel bad about how you speak when you reach college. After all, you may have to correct your professors.
