Disgusting

Dear editor:
The picture in Monday’s Daily Bulletin, entitled “Depot mess,” has prompted me to respond to this same issue, which has been bothering me for some time.
I had planned on expressing my opinion in the “Cheers and Jeers” column, but this seems a more appropriate place to discuss my concerns.
I am remembering the article that was published when recycling first was brought into Fort Frances. One of the requirements was to ensure that all boxes were flattened before disposing of them.
It seems that many people simply have disregarded that rule, which is obvious by the picture in the Bulletin.
It amazes me that someone would not use common sense but would insert an empty 1-metre by 2-metre cardboard box, or larger, into one of the bins—thereby taking up a good portion of the room.
Also, it would seem sensible for people to throw their recyclables to the back of the bin and not dump everything at the front.
It is disgusting and embarrassing to drive by and see such a mess when I know the bins are dumped regularly. Let’s try to keep that area neat!
Come on, offenders, please use common sense and don’t drop garbage or glass at the recyclable station. I think we all know where those items go!
Let’s be proud of our town and support those who work very hard to make Fort Frances an inviting place to live and visit!
