Dear sir:
In response to the letter from the Mine Centre Community Hall Association, I would like to begin by apologizing to anyone who thought my words were meant to belittle any other entertainment or the people who have worked to provide it.
This was not my intention. It is my opinion that the entertainment for the evening was the best but that does not mean the other entertainment in the past was not good.
I will not apologize for anything else, however, because it was true. I believe my words were blown way out of proportion. I simply wanted to point out the rude and disgraceful manner that some people acted in.
It recently has come to my attention that the band was very upset by the way they were treated. The way those people acted has given our whole community a bad reputation.
I believe these people, if they were not happy with the entertainment, should have addressed their concerns to the Community Hall Association members, not the band.
The people who acted rudely had other options to let their feelings be known but instead chose to act immaturely. I think if it had been younger people who had acted this way, they forever would be deemed rude, obnoxious young people with no respect.
If anyone should be apologizing, it should be those who showed disrespect to the band.
I did not write my article with the intention to offend or anger anyone, I wrote the truth about certain people’s behaviour. I only wished to let people know the rude behaviour did not go unnoticed, nor does this ex-correspondent condone that type of behaviour–from young or old.
Sincerely,
Jessica Sweigard
