Criticism, and praise

Dear sir:
I am an avid reader of the Fort Frances Times, and I rarely miss an issue of the Daily Bulletin or the weekly edition of the paper. When we moved here three years ago, my first connection to the town of Fort Frances was through reading your newspaper.
However, I am disappointed with the new style you have adopted for the Daily Bulletin. It perplexes me that a local paper would change to this format, as the information is copy of news we may see and hear every day through other media and other papers.
Furthermore, one of the aspects I used to enjoy most about our local paper was the absence of violent and “negative” headlines. We are assaulted daily by this type of news on the television, on the radio, and in other newspapers.
As parochial as this may sound, it is for that reason that I subscribe solely to the Fort Frances Times and Daily Bulletin.
I wonder what happened to your weekly “tech” page that featured computer lingo and technological news. This feature was useful and informative. In my opinion, it rivalled features run in nationally-circulated newspapers such as the Globe and Mail.
Perhaps more of this type of “general interest” feature would help to pique curiosity when local news is lacking. Surely you can rely on the talents of your staff and members of our community to contribute?
Please note: I applaud your efforts to evolve as a publication. As Oliver
Wendell Holmes wrote, “The greatest thing in this world is not so much
where we are but in what direction we are moving.”
Sincerely,
Keri Russell
