Dear editor:
As the days grow warmer and the grass begins to turn green, we are reminded that spring has arrived.
At Rainy River District Palliative Care, we are aware that while springtime can bring joy and excitement for many people, others find the change of seasons and special occasions of this time of year bring sad memories and difficult times.
Anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or springtime activities such as planting the garden—these are such occasions.
It may seem, at these times, that your grief has overwhelmed you again. This is not abnormal. There are no “rules” with grief. There is not one “right” way to cope. Only you can know what is right for you.
It is especially important to be kind to yourself whenever the wounds are tender. Some people find it can be helpful to set aside some special time to acknowledge their loved ones and their memories.
Such a time may help to soothe the pain and help with the healing.
Our district’s palliative care group has arranged a special evening which might be helpful. You are invited to attend “An Evening of Reflection” on Monday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort Frances.
This will be an opportunity for you to remember your loved one in a special way. Please extend this invitation to any friends or family you feel would like to participate, or may benefit from this evening.
For more information, contact any one of the our district co-ordinators: Teresa Bolen (274-5138), Janet Young (482-2473), or Carolee Hogue (852-3392).
Sincerely,
Teresa Bolen
