Dear editor:
I am writing to clarify some information from the article “Injured cheerleader waiting for word on her prognosis,” which appeared in the Dec. 17, 1998 edition of the Daily Bulletin.
At the time of the incident, it is correct that no teacher-coach was present. Some of the coaches at F.F.H.S. are volunteers. The two cheerleading coaches are volunteers who obtained their Level I coaching last summer. The assistant coach also has 13 years of adult first aid, CPR, and infancy first aid.
Cheerleading is not an OFSAA sport. They are sanctioned through the Ontario Cheerleading Federation (OCF).
Thank you for the opportunity to clarify some information, and to let your know the cheerleader is going to be fine.
Signed,
Joyce J. Scott
(FFHS cheerleading rep)
