Busy time

Dear editor:
Spring has been a fairly busy time for us residents here at Rainycrest.
First of all, there was the 15- to 20-piece band from Bermuda which played for all of us in Hallett Hall on April 4.
They were here helping celebrate the Salvation Army’s 100th year in the community of Fort Frances, and I might add that they played a terrific concert.
Next we had the Easter Tea on April 17. There was a great turnout and we all listened as Diane Maxey played the piano for us all.
The atmosphere in Hallett Hall was Easter-oriented, with Easter decorations throughout it.
On April 24, we had the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, which was a great success. With all the prizes and contests, no one left there dissatisfied.
As the activation crew sang “Eight Days A Week” with a jest towards volunteers, the crowd there really enjoyed it. And with their choice of calico chicken or steamed fish, no one left there hungry.
In addition to the above events, we also had a couple of “Happy Hours.” These were held April 11 and 25, where residents could go down to the Mill Square and enjoy a couple of “cold ones.”
We also had the opportunity to test our singing abilities as the activation department had their karaoke machine out.
Along with these events, the staff in the activation department still managed to maintain their rigorous schedule of daily activities.
In conclusion, I would like to thank the activation department and all the volunteers, who without their help none of these activities would have been possible.
I also would like to take this opportunity to thank the kitchen staff for the excellent meal they prepared for the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, as well as the delicious snacks that they put out at our annual Easter Tea.
