Dear sir:
I am writing to express concern over the reviews I have been receiving in regards to the “poor” quality of the entertainment at this year’s “Summer Quest.”
As Videon airs the tape of this year’s contest, I continually hear
how the singers were “off key” or “should not have been up there.” I am
appalled at these comments because I know they are nowhere near the truth.
I had the privilege of working with all of the contestants [as a member of the back-up band] and found them very talented and great to work with. During rehearsals, they showed just how talented they really are.
The problem starts the night of the show. These contestants were beat
before they got on stage. The sound on stage was terrible. They could not
hear what they were singing. All you have to do is watch the tape and count the contestants that had to plug one ear in order to try and hear
themselves.
So please, don’t ridicule these talented people. If they went off key, they really had no way of knowing. They all sang great in rehearsals when they could hear exactly what they were singing.
Thank you.
Yours truly,
Bill Shine
